Veterans Day luncheon in Fayetteville celebrates service and sacrifice

(WTVD) -- State leaders marked Veterans Day in Fayetteville with a heartfelt luncheon, paying tribute to the men and women who have served in the U.S. military. The event, held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6018, brought together veterans from all branches, offering them an opportunity to reconnect and reflect on their shared experiences. Commander Perry Saunders Jr. of VFW Post 6018 described the event as more than just a meal; it was a powerful reminder of the community that the military has built in Fayetteville. "When you're here in Fayetteville, it's not just a community of citizens, but all of the military families and everybody who makes up our military community," Saunders said. NC McDonald's employee shoots, kills delivery driver during altercation, Fayetteville police say

Fayetteville police responded to calls about a shooting at the McDonald's at 5009 Santa Fe Drive just after 8:15 p.m. Police told ABC11 that a McDonald's employee got into an altercation with a DoorDash driver. The employee then pulled out a gun and shot 25-year-old Samori Husamudeen. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. ABC11 spoke with a family member of Husamudeen.
